IDF soldiers who arrived in Israel's north for mountain training Thursday morning found themselves caught in inclement weather with nowhere to turn for shelter.

Needing a place to escape the rain, wind, and thunderstorms that prevailed in the north, military officials turned to the nearby 'Breslov Colony' of Yavniel for aid.

The community, founded by members of the Breslov Chassidic sect, also has a growing contingent of immigrants from English speaking countries.

Local leaders in Yavniel said they were only to delighted to give the soldiers a dry place to rest, relax, and eat and raced to host the soldiers.

The soldiers were invited to encamp in the community’s soup kitchen, "The Tent of Avraham," which was established several years ago and is open to the public.

The soup kitchen provides 700 free meals to the public every day, and is unique in that the food distribution is intended for everyone - both those in need and those with plenty.

The policy is intended to shield the poor and homeless from the shame that would come from eating in a place segregated from those who can support themselves.
